Following some legal problems with a famous brand of rice, it was Ben l’Oncle Soul who ruled the stage, both at festivals (Solidays, Francofolies) and at prestigious venues in Paris (Olympia, Opus, Réservoir, Bataclan). Having signed the Motown France label, Ben released his first EP in the Autumn of 2009 entitled “Soul Wash”. A concept album where he covered some recent standard songs and gave them his own secret vintage soul twist. Drawing on an extensive repertoire (rock, pop, the French Song), and often as a surprise (Spice Girls, Aqua), Ben plays the card of originality and takes a step back in time. He continued to succeed and win awards: Prix Constantin en 2010, NRJ Music Awards in 2011 from the Francophone Revelation of the Year, named in 4 categories in the same year at the Victoires de la Musique, he snapped up the Best Live Newcomer award.
