When she was 14 years old the young girl gave up the piano during her adolescent crisis. She felt the instrument was too “bourgeois” and conventional and turned to writing her own songs reflecting on her adolescent worries, frustrations and rage which were typical of that time in life.
Girl of the cyber generation, Béatrice Martin grew up at the same time as new technologies. With the internet being an immense vehicle for artistic promotion, it was through her blogs and MySpace page that the young singer was discovered at 18 years old. In 2007, spotted by the enormous buzz generated by the number of visits to her MySpace page and on Youtube, she was contacted by the Qubecois label Grosse Boîte who agreed to take her under their wing.
In 2009, her first studio album aptly called Cœur de Piratewas launched. In November 2011 , Coeur de pirate was followed by Blonde, her much awaited second album, co-produced by the reputable Howard Bilerman from Montreal, who among others had worked with Arcade Fire, Godspeed You!
